closing announcement

The end of the year is a time for contemplation and reflection. As we find ourselves moving further away from the challenges of a pandemic and into the vagueness of the future, I’ve found myself shouldering the weight of a bittersweet decision. The unpredictable shifts over the last two years felt like the Olympics of small business. I’m proud to say that with support we survived, but it’s time to move on to new adventures, and be more available for my family. On December 31st,  I will be closing our first location at 619 Tremont Street.

I have deeply enjoyed the privilege and challenges of being a small business owner. The 10+ years I have spent developing and executing - and of course re-inventing - Niche are some of the most transformative and educational periods of my life. The various ups and the gains over the years outweigh the downs and the losses. Not always on paper, as it often goes in small business, but unquestionably in the spirit of life experience.

The unstated mission when creating Niche was to establish something positive in the neighborhood I call home. Adding an amenity on one of our main streets was a priority. I am lucky to be a part of a community of shop and restaurant owners that feel the same way, and to have a neighborhood that values us. I have endless gratitude for the supportive culture that exists in the South End, both as a shop owner and resident. I am looking forward to continuing to support local business and excited to see what the future holds. As of now, the Davis Square location and our online store will continue to operate through May of 2023.

Keep growing,

Lindsey

The first born. The little plant shop that could. Niche SE opened in May of 2013 and has been making us proud ever since.
After a nearly a decade of serving the neighborhood, Niche South End closed on December 31, 2022.
